Intensive therapy is the core of our program. Clients receive a minimum of 3 individual sessions per week, 3 session of group therapy per day and comprehensive family therapy. Our program is designed to address the whole person and includes psychiatric assessments, medication management, physical exercise, nutrition and more. In addition to our therapeutic interventions, we emphasize creating a nurturing and positive environment. Our treatment program is designed to immerse adolescents in healthy and positive lifestyle habits that they can carry forward beyond our program. We believe this approach helps cultivate independence in our clients, helping them develop skills and habits to lead successful and healthy lives.

At Ridge RTC, accessibility matters. We are committed to offering high-quality treatment to as many families as possible. To achieve this, we partner with leading insurance providers. The Ridge is in-network with Aetna, Carelon, Anthem, Beacon, Magellan, Multiplan, and Optum. If we are not in-network, we work extensively with out-of-network benefits and Single Case Agreements. Holistic Healing: Addressing Behavioral Challenges and Deeper Emotional Issues

When teens and families are seeking treatment, there are often behavioral challenges at the forefront. Behaviors can present in a variety of ways to include substance use, self-harm, school avoidance, and more. While it’s imperative we address the behavioral issues, we believe addressing the core issues is where longer lasting change can be found. Too often teen treatment programs focus on behaviors without helping the teen understand the ‘why’ – what is going on underneath the surface that leads to acting out. Without addressing the deeper issues, clients are likely to establish new negative coping skills to try and manage the deeper emotional or mental health issues that has not been addressed. We use a variety of therapeutic modalities to address the whole person.

Evidence-Based Therapies for Teen Behavioral Issues:

Teenagers grappling with behavioral issues such as substance use, self-harm, and school avoidance benefit immensely from evidence-based therapies. At Ridge RTC, we employ a variety of these proven methods, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. These therapies are instrumental in helping teens understand and modify their thought patterns, manage their emotions effectively, and foster resilience. Our group therapy sessions offer a supportive space where teens can share experiences and learn from one another, fostering a sense of community and shared growth.

Recreational Therapy’s Role in Holistic Treatment:

Recreational therapy is an integral part of our holistic approach to treating teen behavioral issues. It encompasses a range of activities that promote physical health and provide emotional relief. Teens at Ridge RTC have the opportunity to engage in outdoor adventures, creative arts, and various forms of physical exercise, all set against the backdrop of New England’s natural beauty. These activities not only serve as constructive outlets for stress and anxiety but also contribute to the development of a positive self-image and improved social skills. By integrating recreational therapy with traditional therapeutic practices, we offer a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses the multifaceted needs of our teens.

A Relational Approach to Healing

At Ridge RTC, we understand that teen behavioral issues often originate from deeper emotional and mental health struggles. Our relational approach is centered on building strong, therapeutic connections with each teen. Our experienced clinicians are committed to understanding each individual’s life context, including family dynamics, social relationships, and personal history. By cultivating trust and empathy, we create a secure environment where teens can openly explore their emotions, fears, and vulnerabilities. This relational perspective allows us to address the root causes of behavioral challenges, aiding teens in developing healthier coping strategies and interpersonal skills.

Intensive Individual Therapy: Uncovering the Root Causes

Our dedication to personalized care is exemplified through our intensive one-on-one therapy sessions. These sessions provide an opportunity for our therapists to deeply investigate the underlying mental and emotional health issues that influence behavioral patterns. Whether addressing trauma, anxiety, depression, or unresolved grief, our therapists assist teens in self-reflection, self-awareness, and emotional processing. Utilizing evidence-based modalities like psychodynamic therapy and trauma-focused therapy, teens are guided to explore their inner selves, identify unhelpful thought patterns, and cultivate more adaptive ways of self-relating and interacting with others. By confronting these fundamental issues, we empower teens to enact enduring change and establish a foundation for long-term well-being.

Deciding to enroll your child in a residential program is an incredibly tough choice, made during times when your child is facing challenges, the family dynamic is under pressure, and trust is being placed in the hands of those outside the family circle. We recognize the emotional toll this takes, not just on the individual but on the entire family structure, affecting both parent-child and inter-parental relationships.

Each family’s journey to considering residential treatment is distinct, with some facing immediate safety concerns and others navigating the confusing ebbs and flows of teen behavioral issues. It can be daunting to determine the right course of action.

Our admissions team is dedicated to guiding you through these complex decisions and circumstances. Whether you’re poised to take the next step with a program or are in the early stages of exploring your options, our team is available around the clock, every day of the week, to provide support and answers to your pressing questions.

The teenage years are pivotal, filled with challenges and opportunities for growth. At The Ridge, we recognize the importance of addressing mental health concerns early on. Through comprehensive clinical evaluations, we aim to understand each teen’s unique situation, fostering open communication within families and overcoming the stigma surrounding mental health.

The Importance of Clinical Evaluations
Understanding your teen allows us to tailor support and education, crucial for their long-term wellness. Recognizing signs of mental health or substance use disorders early—such as changes in behavior, mood swings, and academic difficulties—is vital. Our evaluations provide insights essential for personalized care.

Comprehensive Evaluation Process
Our process begins with a thorough consultation, utilizing various assessment tools and involving family members to understand your teen’s needs fully. This holistic approach ensures personalized care, addressing each teen’s psychological, educational, and social well-being.

Formulating a Diagnosis and Treatment Plan
An exhaustive psychiatric evaluation is the foundation for crafting a treatment plan that meets your teen’s individual needs. Accurate diagnosis informs the selection of interventions, supporting their journey toward healing and resilience.

Monitoring and Adjusting the Treatment Plan
Ongoing collaboration with mental health professionals and families is crucial for monitoring progress. Regular check-ins allow for adjustments to the treatment plan, ensuring it evolves with your teen’s needs.

In addition to engaging in nature, we explore expressive art therapies such as art therapy, writing therapy, and music therapy, where self-expression and emotional release occur naturally. These experiential modalities complement our evidence-based practices, fostering holistic healing and personal growth.

At The Ridge, intensive individual therapy is at the heart of our program. Our clients engage in a minimum of 3 one-on-one sessions per week with their therapists. These intimate sessions provide a safe space for processing traumas and personal issues. By engaging in intensive individual therapy, our clients gain valuable insights into their challenges and how they are being addressed within the program’s boundaries.

Humans are inherently social beings, and during adolescence and young adulthood, the need for relational connection intensifies. At The Ridge, teens participate in regular group therapy sessions multiple times per day. These moments of connection can be transformative, offering relief, strength, and courage. The impact of these shared experiences resonates long after the sessions end, shaping our clients’ growth and healing.

At The Ridge, we recognize the profound link between our clients and their families. Our therapeutic fabric includes weekly individual family therapy to help gain insight into the family system and communication patterns. Just as we approach the whole individual, we assess family dynamics. These dynamics play a crucial role in healing beyond our program. We empower families by providing support, guidance, and resources, ensuring lasting change extends to their immediate circle of support.

Our therapeutic program equips teens and young adults with self-understanding and practical coping strategies. We blend relational-informed and mindfulness-based therapies, psychoeducation, and Family Systems therapy. These evidence-based modalities create lasting transformations. Whether it’s art therapy, recreational therapy, DBT, CBT, or music therapy, we tailor our approach to each individual’s unique needs.

At The Ridge, we extend our experiential therapies to the great outdoors, embracing the serene and restorative settings of New Hampshire and Maine. Our programs harness nature’s inherent therapeutic qualities. These experiences not only foster a deep connection with the environment but also promote mindfulness, resilience, and a sense of well-being. By integrating the outdoors into our therapeutic modalities, we provide a unique opportunity for growth, reflection, and healing in the embrace of nature’s tranquility.

In addition to engaging in nature, we explore expressive art therapies such as art therapy, writing therapy, and music therapy, where self-expression and emotional release occur naturally. These experiential modalities complement our evidence-based practices, fostering holistic healing and personal growth.

Choosing the Right Residential Treatment Center

When selecting a residential treatment program for your struggling teenager, it is essential to do extensive research so you can pick the ideal facility. There are various factors to consider in order to find the best option: location, expense, length of stay, and type of services provided by the center.

To help guide your search process, we have put together some important considerations as well as questions that must be answered before making an informed decision about what kind of residential treatment would suit them best. By looking into all these points prior to choosing a particular facility or program, you will gain the insight necessary for determining which suits their individual needs better than another – allowing teens to get the most out of their chosen plan instead of simply going with something random without doing sufficient due diligence beforehand.

When it comes to choosing a residential treatment center for teens, there are numerous considerations that must be taken into account. Factors such as the ages of those enrolled at the facility, the types of therapeutic treatments provided, and the qualifications or certifications of staff need to be considered.

It is also important that due consideration is given to both location safety and any extra services offered on-site, so making time for an inspection visit will help provide better service. Talking with current representatives from various facilities can allow you to gain additional knowledge about them before deciding which choice would work best for your teen’s specific needs!

By researching these elements properly beforehand – taking each factor individually into account during your evaluation process – you can make a fully informed decision when selecting the ideal residential treatment center suitable for their requirements effectively.

The correct selection of a residential treatment center for your teen is achievable by asking the right questions. It’s important to find out if the facility has an accreditation, who makes up its staff, and the details of the clinical program. Also inquire about program duration, therapies provided, and whether or not they use proven methods as part of their approach.
