The Ridge Maine is intentionally designed to foster a collaborative and familial culture, emphasizing deeper connections with oneself and others through intensive therapy and clinical programming. Situated adjacent to the picturesque Frye Mountain Wildlife Management area, clients of enjoy a distraction-free environment conducive to reflecting on their life path, goals and dreams. The simplicity and tranquility of farm life offer opportunities for teens to reconnect with core values and acquire skills focused on emotional regulation, frustration tolerance, flexibility, and problem-solving.
Our intensive and short-term therapeutic program serves as a respite from home stressors, unhealthy patterns, and negative influences. Through a multidisciplinary approach to treatment, including comprehensive assessments and clinical interventions, we aim to address the holistic needs of each individual, facilitating their reintegration with family as swiftly as possible. What to Expect at Our Maine Treatment Center
The Ridge Maine, located on a tranquil 400-acre campus in mid-coast Maine, offers an all-inclusive short-term residential program. It’s the first step towards long-term stability, health, and happiness for your teen. Under 24/7 supervision, they will have access to therapies, staff, and activities that promote lasting well-being.
We welcome all genders, ages 12-18, and specialize in treating Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, and ADHD-related challenges and the behavioral challenges that go alongside emotional and mental health issues, including substance use, self-harm, school avoidance, defiance and more. Our safe environment fosters community and shared support.
Intensive Therapy Works

Our approach harnesses trust, humor, and adaptability, offering therapy in settings that range from serene nature walks to innovative equine-assisted sessions, all designed to foster effective engagement. At The Ridge Maine, licensed therapists with expertise in a broad spectrum of treatments, including DBT and substance abuse counseling, play a pivotal role. Clients begin with an intensive assessment, followed by an individualized treatment plan that includes:
- Individual therapy – 4x per week
- Family therapy – 1x per week
- Psychiatry – 1x per week
- Daily Group Therapy – including DBT, CBT, psychoeducational groups, and more.
Equine-Assisted Therapy
The Ridge Maine offers a unique Equine-Assisted Therapy program aimed at supporting teens facing emotional and behavioral challenges. This therapy blends horse-related activities with psychotherapy, enhancing skills like responsibility, communication, and relationship building. It’s designed for individual and group sessions, guided by trained professionals. This approach helps teens build self-esteem and social abilities in a nurturing environment, making it an effective part of their mental health journey.

At Ridge RTC Maine, teens enjoy a unique experience where we seek to make the most of our incredible setting, including exciting off-campus outings and day trips to explore the scenic wonders of the state. From water activities and hikes to cross-country skiing and trips to renowned Acadia National Park, there’s so much more to a stay at the Ridge treatment center in Maine than routine therapy and care.
Excursions include:
Day trip to Acadia National Park, the oldest park on the East Coast, which boasts stunning peaks, miles of hiking trails, and picturesque carriage roads adorned with stone bridges. Patients are immersed in the mountains, woodlands, and seaside terrain that await and center themselves in the beauty of one of nature’s most legendary wonderlands.
Because we believe in engaging with the community at Ridge RTC, our residents can also attend local cultural events, such as plays and historic museums. And let’s not forget the exciting Portland Sea Dogs baseball games!

Megan, now the Medical Director at Ridge RTC, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a rich history in medical and mental health services. Her journey includes six years as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse at Frisbie Memorial Hospital and a transformative tenure at Shortridge Academy. Starting as a student mentor at Shortridge in 2012, she climbed the ranks to become Residential Manager, a role that had her creating student trips and managing the residential environment. Before embarking on her medical career, Megan championed the cause of those with severe mental illness as a Case Manager at a community agency.
